What a fantastic week in 5D!
Field Trip!
We kicked off the week with our field trip to the Hangar Flight Museum! Students explored a variety of historic aircraft during our guided tour. Some class favourites included the Quickie 2 and the impressive Avro Lancaster. After the tour, we headed into the Rocket Lab where students built and tested their own launchers, experimenting with how thrust affects flight.
Procedural Writing
Back in the classroom, students applied what they learned in the Rocket Lab to strengthen their procedural writing skills. We reviewed what makes detailed step-by-step instructions effective—specific verbs, precise descriptions of size and location, and clear organization.
Math: City Planners at Work
In math, students continued designing their own cities on a coordinate grid. We have become confident at plotting polygons, locating vertices, and navigating city spaces using directional language. Our classroom is full of young urban planners!
Art
To wrap up the week, students created beautiful, personalized labels for our classroom schedule. These labels will stay up for the rest of the school year. Both functional and a lovely reflection of 5D’s creativity. Pictures of our new schedule coming soon!
See you next week 5D!
