Week of May 11 and 18

It was another busy couple of weeks of learning in 5D!

In math, students continued building their understanding of fractions by converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions. We practiced using visual models and mathematical reasoning to explain our thinking.

We continued our poetry unit and explored sensory poems. Students used descriptive language that appeals to the five senses to create vivid images and strong emotions in their writing.

We began learning about the circulatory system and how the heart, blood, and blood vessels work together to keep our bodies healthy. We were also fortunate to welcome Grace into our classroom, a nursing student, who shared her knowledge and helped us learn more about the human body through engaging discussions and activities.

Students worked with their Grade 2 buddies to create symmetrical butterfly artwork, applying their understanding of symmetry while collaborating and being positive role models.

Last Week: Students participated in a nutrition workshop where they learned about healthy food choices and balanced meals. As part of the workshop, they had the opportunity to make and enjoy their own pasta salad!
