Week of June 1st and 8th!
Over the past two weeks, we have been busy learning and exploring many exciting topics across our subjects!
Looking Ahead:
On Wednesday, June 17 we will be creating tie-dye shirts! Students can begin bringing a plain white t-shirt to school anytime over the next few weeks so they are ready for our tie-dye activity. It can be a new or old/second hand shirt!
In Social Studies, we became merchants in an ancient civilization and traded goods with other groups. This activity helped us better understand how trade worked in the past and how different civilizations relied on each other.
In Art, we wrapped up our printmaking unit by creating and printing our own bookmarks. It was great to see our designs come to life!
In Math, we finished our unit on fractions and have now started learning algebra, which has been a fun new challenge.
In Science, we conducted an experiment using celery to observe how the xylem transports water. By placing celery in coloured water, we were able to see the colour move through the plant, showing how water travels inside it.
We also presented the books we have been working on for a long time. It was awesome to share our hard work and creativity.
In Writing, we began biography writing by interviewing a classmate. This is helping us learn how to gather information and tell someone else’s story in an engaging way.
See you next week 5D!
